Passed away peacefully in Sutton, on May 15th, 2023, at the age of 91, born in Cartierville Montreal and became a life long resident of Stanbridge East, wife of Mr. Neil Rhicard, predeceased by her late husband Vernon Boomhower, mother of the late Debra Boomhaur, late Martin Boomhower, daughter of late Frank Martin and late Louise Gordon, sister of the late Robert Martin. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children; Shelley (Colin Slater), Craig (Ann Gendreau), her step children; Cynthia (Henri), Steven (Caroline) her grandchildren: Melissa (Mike), Ryan MacDonald (Natalie), Tara MacDonald, and Brennen (Josiane), Callah (Martin), Caleb, Aiden, Aaron, Emily, Step-grandchildren: Hannah-Louise, Jennifer, Molly, Luke and Sarah Slater. Her great grandchildren: Sawyer, Evelyn, Oscar, Louanna. Her brothers: Brian (Dawn) and Victor Allison (Catherine), her brother-in-law John (Dianne) and sisters-in-law Pat, Late Lois Boomhower (late Stan Webster), Cheryl Boomhower, Lynn Martin (late Earl Boomhower) and Maxine Boomhower Tétrault (Donald) her nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Loving mother, Thelma was a matriarch of Stanbridge East. She was involved in many volunteer organisations as president of United Church Women, Brownie leader & Girl guide, Missisquoi Museum, Embellishment committee, Canadian club, Women’s institute. She was the Brome County news Correspondent for many years for Stanbridge East and reported on flora & fauna and her pet dog Rufus. Her love and passion for her dogs began when she lived in Churchill with her dad (retired boxing champion) and his wife Margo Tremblay. She remembered every name of their huskies from the dog sleds. She loved politics and was involved in the Liberal party as organizer for many elections. She was a very active lady involved in the Sport Association for softball, Captain of The Alley Cats and Little Women bowling leagues and as a hostess for The Cross-Country Ski Club. Motorcycle riding and snowmobile were other activities she enjoyed. She also was an avid bird watcher and gardener. She will be fondly remembered for her love of her family and great involvement in her beloved community. Special Thank you to the CHSLD in Sutton for excellent care along with all the caretakers including The Manoir in Philipsburg and to all of those who visited and sent our mom cards. A special thanks to her cousin Sandy Wilson and her husband Delmar whom were always there for her. Mom’s advice to her children and future generations ‘’ To Thine Own Self  Be True’’
